 General Information

The Internship Program is designed to provide second year (Senior) students with the opportunity to obtain field experience in addition to class work.  In general, KACC prefers that internships be placed in businesses that are not owned, operated or supervised by members of the intern’s family.  Any requests to place an intern in a family-owned or operated business will require special review and approval.

Internship placement is never to be considered as a substitute for the classroom education and training provided by KACC and its Instructors.   One of the primary goals of the Internship Program is to place students in an environment where they can learn different techniques and gain knowledge that may not be available in the classroom.

The student’s time at the training station is to occur at the same time as his/her scheduled KACC class.  Any request for a time variance must be noted on the “Request for Internship Placement” form, signed by the KACC Instructor, and submitted for verification and approval by the Internship Coordinator and KACC Administration.  Health concerns should also be addressed on the Request for Internship Placement form.

The intern must have reliable transportation to and from the Internship site.

Internship is a privilege and an honor for any high school senior.  Careful consideration is given into the placing a student who will represent KACC and themselves positively in the community.
